Monaco 0-2 Lille: It’s glass half-empty time

By: Richard | September 30th, 2008

AS Monaco 0
Lille 2 (Cabaye 69, Obraniak 87)

Monaco cannot score goals.

That’s 3 matches in a row now with no goals, if you count the midweek Cup loss to PSG. I suppose that given the fact that Monaco could have moved into 3rd place in Ligue 1 if they had won, I really shouldn’t be talking about this team as though they are doomed to relegation, but honestly, you will rarely see such offensive ineptitude outside of a World Cup group stage match. Formations that don’t fit the skills of the players, endless long balls to forwards with little aerial ability (do they think Koller is still in the team or something?), failure to maintain possession….

Anyway, despite letting in two goals, Ruffier was again the star of the match as Lille could have easily scored 4 or 5.

My wish list: change formations. start Adu on the wing. bench Meriem, and possibly Alonso as well.

They should have brought someone in who could score goals like that Ecudorian they were linked with. They arent bad enough to be relegated. Need to sign a true forward in Jan.
