Draw with NK Zagreb/ Vive le RMC
By: Richard | July 16th, 2008Monaco continued its preseason program today with a friendly against NK Zagreb of Croatia:
AS Monaco 2 (Nene 56pen, Bakar 68)
NK Zagreb 2 (Mujdza 11, Parlov 89)
Ricardo put out the same 4-3-3 formation that drew 1-1 with Toulouse a few days ago, with a few minor personnel changes. The official website says the defensive error that led to the late equalizer was no big deal, but it annoys the hell out of me. That sort of thing happened way, way too much last year.
Finally, if I might be allowed a small digression…
This clip is old and features no AS Monaco players at all, but I want to introduce as many people as possible to the fantastic commentators at Radio Monte Carlo. Yes, I know that RMC is more of a French national entity than a Monegasque one these days (despite the name), but I figure that French football fans should a) have an alternative to the guys at TF1, and b) need cheering up after the wretched perfomance of Les Blues at Euro 2008. So, here’s France v. Spain from WC 2006. If this doesn’t get your blood pumping, you must be Spanish (or possibly Italian).

Bakar!!! Great, Monaco has some really promising young players coming through the academy right now. Schwechlen, Zola, Bakar, Muratori, Martin, Mongongu and Pinau (I heard he moved to Genoa?) are all solid prospects. Must fill you with alot of excitement.

So what do you think of that 4-3-3 formation?

sorry for my late reply, Julien. i like the 4-3-3, considering that Monaco is loaded with winger/offensive mid-type players rather than true forwards.
and yes, Pinau is at Genoa, Corey.
