Doom and gloom

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I got extremely frustrated after the 3-1 loss to OM and I thought I would wait awhile to post to avoid saying anything rash. Well, I’m still annoyed days later, so let’s talk about it.

You can say it’s only a friendly and that we lost to quality opposition, etc., etc., but what concerns me is the continued poor play of the defense. ASM let in a ton of goals at the end of last season and I see no improvement in that regard. They’re still ball-watching, giving too much space to attackers, you name it….and yet every player the club is linked to is an attacking mid or a striker.

This club needs to get rid of the deadwood (Adriano looks more and more like the sort of Brazilian who should be playing for a low-level J-League team rather than in Europe, and did I really say I have hope for Meriem a few posts ago?) and bring in someone who can captain the backline.

Oh well, things can only get better in the pre-season. We only play OL tomorrow. What could go wrong?

I could go on about the Mercato rumors surrounding this club, but regular Ligue 1 blog readers have heard it all before. I don’t remember an off-season where the rumors of certain transfers persisted so long without anything happening.

  Carlos Tenorio is the big rumor right now. Cant say that I’m thrilled about it but he does seem to have a similar profile to Piquionne and theyve even the same age. I dont mind bringing him in and shipping Piquionne out but I dont wanna send him to Lyon. Anyone but them please.

  I read that Garcia was planning to turn down both Lyon and PSG for Mallorca because he wanted a lot of playing time, which he wasn’t sure he’d get in France.
