Are you ready for Freddy?
By: Richard | July 21st, 2008
Freddy Adu has joined AS Monaco on a one-year loan!!!! As an American, your humble Monaco blogger is quite proud and excited by this development and will be ordering his jersey as soon as he chooses a shirt number. Tell me, are you magically more interested in ASM now?…

I’m an American too but I was already a fan of the team for about 6 years now. Now we’ll get more Americans following the team because of Freddy Adu which is good but bad if they dont become fans of the team.

There are a bunch of threads dedicated to Adu’s move to Monaco at the Big Soccer forums. Most fans are glad that he’ll be getting a fresh start with hopefully more chances to play.

I’ve never had a French team to follow, but now I do. I love Freddy and wish him the best!

He’s gonna have to do better than Meriem or Menez to start.

This is a great marketing move. Just to ensure Monaco’s sex appeal to an american audience. If he’s decent, this could be parlayed into an american tour for monaco, the new president is quite smart.

Excellent move by Monaco president Jerome de Bontin.
There’s currently FAR too much American interest in Serie A and not enough in Ligue 1. I thihk de Bontin wants to fix that as much as I want him to fix that.
Now to put together that winning season. (Do Freddy and Menez play the same position?)

I agree that there’s more American interest in Serie A than in Ligue 1 but I think the Serie A interest isn’t as high as it used to be. The American interest in soccer is mainly MLS, EPL, and Yanks abroad. Other than Milan I dont see too many Americans caring about Serie A.

I definitely see more Americans following. As your friendly neighbour, I say, BRING IN SOME CANADIANS!!
