13th place: Is Monaco crawling out if its grave?
By: Richard | October 31st, 2008
Ok, that might be a bit morbid, but it’s October 31 and I’m just trying to be topical. (BTW sorry for the blog neglect–busy social life, work repsonsibilities, ASM’s goal drought making me want to give up soccer for competitive sudoku, etc., etc)
Like I suggested in the title, Monaco has shown signs of abandoning Ricardo’s zombie soccer approach. After managing a draw at 3rd place Toulouse (a respectable result, even if it was the most boring match I have watched all year), their mummified offense awakened for a 3-1 home win over the even more inept ASNL (that’s Nancy, not an abbreviation for Arsenal. Oh well, one can dream). Licata’s goal in the 87th minute was particularly exquisite.
Next up, Monaco face Le Havre, another relegation-threatened side that they must defeat to consolidate their own mid-table position.

They are starting to play well and score without Freddy Adu doing anything. Th Americans cant be happy about that.

Yeah, how is Adu doing? I haven’t heard too much about him recently :\

He isn’t Adu-ing a thing. If he ever sees the pitch, it’s as a late substitute. Kind of worrying for him as ASM is full of young, unproven talent and Freddy still can’t break into the team.

2 straight wins and 6 total goals and Adu didnt create or score any of them. The Americans who are following Adu were upset that he wasnt playing and meanwhile the team was awful and not scoring but now those Adu fans are a lot quiter because of the last two results.
