A nervewrecking victory in the derby!
By: Christoffer |
Monaco 3 – Park(19,60), Nenê(62)
Nice 2 – Ben Saad(55), Digard(81)
After a nice offensive performance we managed to get away with yet another win! Park, Nenê and Ruffier was all amazing tonight, and truly proved their value to this team. Haruna looks like he is growing into the player we want him to be, meanwhile our defense this time was quite shaky. The first goal was created by a cornercick which Nenê took care off. Park headed it in beautifully and put us in the lead. After that the game was quite steady but when Nice got a contra, and mashed the ball into the goal. It was very messy and also very lucky for the Nicois. But we quickly responded with Park putting in yet another Nenê assist, and then Nenê finishing off a beautiful performance with a goal by himself. Nice got themselves a goal to travel home on, with Digard scoring on a well struck freekick. At last the players lost their temper and got at eacher other, but fortunately it resulted in no red cards. It first did when Maazou got loose in the back field near Nice goal and Renato Civelli took him down. Civelli got his second yellow card and was sent off. After that it was just a walk in the park, and we took home the 3 points! We are now in 3rd place depending on rest of the weeks results. But let’s enjoy while we’re there!!
Are we really done after only one signing?!

Well after my negative post about the mercato some time ago, we have actually been active. Just not on the incoming side of it. We are making moves when it comes to getting rid of players. Gakpe has been loaned to Tours in Ligue 2 strictly for playing time. That is with no option to buy at the end of the season. And now it seems that the talks of Gudjohnsens departure have appeared once again, and this time it seems as it is for real. He is going to Tottenham on another loan deal. So with this happening we have made 4 moves. 3 outgoing transfers and 1 incoming. All loans!! I find that rather boring to be honest. I still haven’t seen Maazou in action, and we propably won’t will with our current lineup playing so brilliantly. But maybe something miracolous will happen. We’ll see. On saturday we are taking on local rivals Nice for a showdown on the Stade Louis ll. I fully expect a victory to cement us even more at the top of the league. Let’s hope that we can pull it off! See ya next time.
Another one bites the dust

Monaco 2 – Nene(50), Park(77)
Lyon 1 – Boumsong(44)
After a very even match Monaco managed to pull out yet another victory, and keep their perfect score alive in 2010. The game started out quite slowly with few chances, but as the first half got along, we saw more and more action. Park had a magnificent shot at goal from a long distance but Lloris parried it beautifully past the left post. Then it was Lyons turn to test our keeper. Ederson had a well struck free kick which Ruffier had to stretch out fully to get. After that Lyon had another great chance which the defense took care off, and sent it out for a corner. That corner led to another corner. On that corner Ederson sent a cross into Boumsong who headed it right past Ruffier in the left corner of the goal. It was half right after that. So I was of course a little bit worried for our perfect winning record, but unusually I believed in a comeback! And we didn’t dissapoint. We came out like fire, and attacked the Lyon goal. Nenê got the ball on a cross, and tried to drible a Lyon defender, but he got tripped and a penalty was awarded. Nenê of course took care of it easily and send it past Lloris. Then the game slowed down, and not much happened. It sailed back and forward between the two teams. But in the 77th minute Park scored on a beautiful display by us. Alonso send a cross in after a nice pass from Haruna, and Park was wide open to head it into the net. After that Lyon brought in its heavy guns, and gave it all they got but in the end, it wasn’t enough! We held our ground and are still perfect in the new decade! Next game is against Nice on our homefield again! Viva La Monegasque!
Well this is one boring transfer window

We have made two moves this mercato. We brought in Moussa Maazou, and just recently we lent Frederic Nimani to Burnley in England. That is the only thing going on right now transfer wise. The rumours about Valbuena coming to Monaco have cooled off, and Gudjohnsens departure seems more and more unlikely. So what is there to report? Not much really, but I’m gonna try to keep you up with the few transfer rumours there are!

Another win, another clean sheet.

PSG 0
Monaco 1 – Apouel(67, O.G.)
After a nerve wrecking game in Paris, we managed to get away with the win. We were actually dominated most of the game, but still we had our chances. PSG needed this one bad, as they are moving closer to going into crisis mode yet again. They haven’t won in the new decade opposite us who have won all of our games. We owe this game to our defense and especially our fantastic keeper Stephane Ruffier. He made some great saves, and is starting to make a case for a trip with Les Bleus to South Africa in june. Our goal was oh so very lucky. On a cross from Muratori, the PSG keeper tried to pick the ball up, but it hit his foot first, and then went onto the post and in. We held the lead despite the pressure from Paris, and when the final whistle sounded we were the winners. We are steadily moving up the table, and it is that time of the year where the good teams are seperated from the middle teams, and as of right now we are part of the good teams! Let’s hope we can keep this up. Next time is the derby against Nice. It is first in 10 days, so we’ll get a well deserved break after one week with three games. That’s it for this time. See ya!
2 out of 2 in the new decade

Monaco 2 – Nenê(84,88)
Sochaux 0
Though it was not as impressive as it was against Montpellier earlier in the week, we played well and it was a well earned victory. Sochaux didn’t have many chances in any game, but when they finally got them, they were huge! To me our MVP of this game is either Nenê or Ruffier. Propably Nenê because of the fact that he scored both of our goals, but Ruffier played one heck of a game. Made some extremely good saves, and showed of some nice reflexes. Nenê scored first time on a mistake by the Sochaux defense. They led a header by Eduardo Costa just sail through the line, and Nenê took care of it easily. After that we were able to take the tempo of the game and slow it down. But Yannick Sagbo intercepted a bad pass and crossed all the way over the penalty area to Nenê who banged it into the top of the net. So another nice performance by our team and hopefully keep this on, and not go into a mid-season swoon. That is it for this time! See ya
Monaco displays excellence

Monaco 4 – Puygrenier(11), Haruna(55,66), Perez(87
Montpellier 0
Well we played brilliant! I was very impressed with the play all around. We were calm even though we were under pressure after our first goal, and we took away momentum with some steady play. It was great to watch! It started out with Monaco leading a charge against Montpelliers goal, with Park missing a big big chance. Then on the following corner, Puygrenier was placed perfectly to head in the leading goal. After that the Montpellier pressure started but we rattled it off. Then we started dominating again, and we carried on like that for the remainder of the game. We started the second half off with a nice goal right outside the penalty area by Haruna. Montpellier kept on fighting but when Haruna made it 3-0 Montpellier just sort of lost hope. They were awarded a red card to Belhanda, and shortly after that Diego Perez hammered the ball past the keeper for a 4-0 lead, which would eventually be the final score! Maazou our newest signing was at the game, and he looked very impressed, and stated after the game that he cannot wait to play with us. He was very very impressed, and so was I and propably also everyone else watching. But enough about that cause on saturday we are playing Sochaux. It is once again on our homefield and I fully expect a win after this performance. Maazou could make his debut in the diagonal shirt, but we’ll have to wait and see. That was it for this time. See ya around!
Making moves!
By: Christoffer |
So finally our fist move of the winter mercato is here. It is a loan deal for nigerian striker Moussa Maazou. This happened pretty quick. One day it was just a rumour and then the next day it just happened. Maazou is not a known name to many, but he has had his moments. He has totaled 37 goals in 67 matches in his career. We have an option to buy when the loan deal comes to and end in six months, and hopefully we will use it. I really hope that he will make an impact early on in the season, and be the striker that Gudjohnsen wasn’t. That may be high expectations but we really need it right now!
The transfer of Valbuena has silenced over the last couple of days, and nothing else has really come up so maybe this was our first and only move in this mercato, although I hope that it isn’t. I will update you as soon as some news comes up! Tonight we are playing Montpellier on our homefield. It would be lovely to start out the second half of the season with a victory against the 3rd place in the league, and hopefully we will pull it off! We’ll have Park and Puygrenier back in the squad after they were out with suspensions, so we can play with a strong team. That is it for this time. I will update you after the game depending on the outcome. See ya!
Transfer rumours!
By: Christoffer |
Well it has been a long time since I last posted. That is mostly due to my frustration with the teams play, after such a strong season, and after my long post about how this may be our season where we would return to the top. But now the pause has come up and I have calm down. And I will of course start posting a lot again! But to the transfer rumours. The positive is: We are at least trying this transfer window. The negative is: We are not making much progress.

Valbuena to Monaco?
By: Richard |
Well, this is a surprise. After a humiliating transfer season last summer where it seemed nobody wanted to play for us, someone has come forward and publicly admitted he would prefer to come to the Rock.
According to L’Equipe, Mathieu Valbuena of Marseille would rather stay in France and play for us, spurning offers from Russia and elsewhere.
We are woefully short of offensiveoptions, so Mathieu is more than welcome at Monaco, especially if he can do more of this:
In other news, we were our usual unimpressive selves against drop-zone clubs when we scraped a point away at Le Mans. Here’s Park’s equalizing goal. Pretty routine stuff, but I included it because I like our away uniforms. We end the first half of the season in 11th, which is a bitter disappointment after our fantastic start.
